The Patrol Division is made up of one Major, two Lieutenants, four Sergeants and 20 Deputies.
Because the majority of police work in the community is initiated
and handled by the Patrol Division, the Patrol Division is
operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The deputies in the Patrol Division are the first responders to nearly all calls for service. They investigate and make a first report of all types of incidents including violent crimes, property crimes (theft), traffic accidents, and public assists. Most of the 21,000 calls for service in Lauderdale County were answered by the members of the Patrol Division.
Deputies are assigned to one of four shifts (or watches): Days or Nights on shifts A, B, C and D with each shift working 12 hrs with three days on, two off, two on, three off. This includes the K-9 and DUI Enforcement deputies.
